01What it is+
A razor cuts with a different edge and movement from scissors. Used well, it can create softness, separation, fluid layers and lived-in texture while allowing the cutter to sculpt continuously through the section.
James uses razor work selectively. Texture, density, condition, chemical history and desired finish are assessed first; the tool is never chosen simply because a haircut is fashionable or layered.

Timing
Razor work is included within the appropriate haircut. Most appointments: 60 minutes; transformations/extra time: 90 minutes.
Pricing
Haircut $150 · Transformation/extra time $220.
Maintenance
Razor shapes often have a soft grow-out and may last 8–16 weeks, while short fringes and pixies can need earlier maintenance.

A sharp professional razor used with appropriate technique on suitable hair should not inherently damage it. Condition, tension, angle and blade quality all matter.
02Is razor cutting suitable for fine hair?+
Sometimes, with considerable restraint. Fine or fragile hair often needs more perimeter strength and may be better served by scissors.
03Can curly hair be razor cut?+
Yes, selectively. Curl pattern, condition, density and the desired expansion must be understood before choosing the tool.
04Does a razor always create a shaggy haircut?+
No. It can soften a bob, create a fringe, personalise a pixie or add subtle movement within a more structured cut.
