Balance and internal structure are planned from the beginning so the haircut keeps making sense between appointments.
THE COMPLETE GUIDE
Clear information for clients who want to understand the shape, technique, appointment and grow-out before booking.
A bob is defined by its silhouette, perimeter and the relationship between length and weight. Small technical decisions change everything: where the line meets the jaw or neck, how much graduation supports the back, and whether the interior stays solid or opens into movement.
James does not select a bob from a fixed menu. The shape is designed around facial proportions, neck length, hairline, texture, density, natural movement and the amount of daily styling the client actually wants to do.
A strong, clean perimeter with controlled weight and disciplined balance.
Compact shapes around the jaw or above it, often balanced with a fringe or softer edge.
Structure through the nape and back with length or direction developing toward the face.
Polished, fuller silhouettes with expensive movement, body and an intentionally groomed finish.
Shape built around spring, shrinkage, density and the natural grouping of the texture.
Razor-cut, disconnected, graphic or attitude-led shapes—including the sharp ‘cunty bob’.
Length and volume are positioned to strengthen the features and create a complete silhouette from every angle.
Fine hair may need preservation and a stronger perimeter; thick hair may need invisible internal release so it moves without losing identity.
Cowlicks, crown movement, natural parting and the nape determine how the line can sit reliably between appointments.
A sleek glass bob, air-dried wave and expressive razor bob require different architecture and different maintenance.
Your references, routine, features, texture and previous haircut are considered with the hair observed in its natural state.
The perimeter, graduation and layering are created wet, dry or through a combination of both, according to the required control.
Weight is preserved or released deliberately so the bob sits, moves and keeps its proportion without becoming stiff or hollow.
The shape is checked dry, personalised around the face and finished with realistic styling and maintenance advice.
Most bobs: 60 minutes. Major restyles or extra time: 90 minutes.
Haircut $150 · Transformation/extra time $220.
Short or highly precise bobs often benefit from 6–8 weeks. Softer and longer bobs can usually extend further depending on growth and preference.
BEFORE YOU BOOK
Almost certainly—but not every bob will. Length, width, fringe, graduation and volume can be adjusted to work with your features, neck, profile and personal style.
Yes. A considered perimeter and restrained layering can preserve density and make fine hair feel stronger. Excessive weight removal is avoided.
Yes. Thick hair needs intelligent interior weight management; curly hair needs shrinkage, density and movement assessed in its natural state.
A French bob is generally shorter and more compact, often paired with a fringe. An Italian bob is usually fuller, longer and styled with more volume and movement. The most useful version is always adapted rather than copied literally.
Book the 90-minute transformation service when making a major length or shape change, correcting a previous cut, or when your hair needs substantially more time.
