THE DIFFERENCE

01

Shape before styling

The blowout follows the architecture of the haircut, lifting, smoothing and directing the hair so the intended silhouette reads clearly.

02

Movement with longevity

Controlled preparation and considered brushwork create body and movement designed to last without feeling lacquered or rigid.

03

A finish that belongs to you

Bouncy, soft, sleek or full-bodied—the finish is adjusted to the individual, their texture and the way they want to wear their hair.

THE COMPLETE GUIDE

KNOW MORE.
CHOOSE BETTER.

Clear information for clients who want to understand the shape, technique, appointment and grow-out before booking.

01What it is+

A blowout is a shaped finish created with controlled airflow, brushwork, preparation and direction. It can be smooth and understated, full and bouncy, or sleek with movement, but it should always reveal the haircut rather than disguise it.

James adjusts product, tension, brush size and volume placement to the texture, condition, haircut and occasion. The result is polished without becoming rigid or disconnected from the person wearing it.

02Shapes + possibilities+

A FINISH BUILT AROUND THE HAIRCUT

’90s bouncy blowout

Root lift, generous movement and curved ends with an intentionally glamorous silhouette.

Soft modern volume

Body and movement with less set, less stiffness and a more lived-in finish.

Smooth + polished

Controlled texture and shine while preserving movement through the ends.

Sleek finish

A straighter, cleaner result directed to emphasise line and condition.

Curly diffuse finish

Natural texture encouraged through thoughtful preparation, distribution and low-disturbance drying.

Cut-and-colour finish

A tailored blow-dry used to reveal the final shape and colour placement.

03What determines suitability+

Haircut architecture

Volume and direction follow the intended shape instead of forcing every haircut into the same round-brush finish.

Texture + condition

Heat, tension and product are adjusted to protect fragile hair and manage dense or resistant texture.

Longevity

Preparation and sectioning are chosen around the desired life of the finish and Melbourne conditions.

Your preference

The finish can be polished, expressive, soft or understated rather than automatically ‘salon perfect’.

04What happens at the appointment+
  1. 01

    Consult

The desired finish, event, current haircut and normal routine are established.

  2. 02

    Prepare

Cleansing, conditioning and styling support are selected for texture, condition and hold.

  3. 03

    Build the shape

Airflow, brushwork and sectioning create the required root direction, body and movement.

  4. 04

    Set + finish

The hair is allowed to settle, then refined with the least product needed for polish and longevity.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

QUESTIONS,
ANSWERED.

01How long will my blowout last?+

Commonly several days, but texture, humidity, exercise, sleep and product use all affect longevity.

02Can I request a ’90s blowout?+

Yes. Root lift, curved movement and fullness can be built around your haircut and density rather than copied as one standard finish.

03Do you blow-dry curly hair?+

Yes. Natural texture can be diffused, stretched or smoothed according to the result you want and the condition of the hair.

04Is a wash included?+

A standalone blowout includes appropriate cleansing and preparation. Colour-service finishing is booked separately as listed in the service menu.

05Will you show me how to recreate it?+

Yes. James can explain brush direction, section size, product and the parts of the technique that will make the greatest difference at home.

SUITABILITY FIRST

The strongest blowout does not overpower the person or the haircut. It reveals the shape, movement and condition of the hair at their best.
